Enrichment Voyages are travel and learn opportunities on Semester at Sea's state-of-the-art floating campus that are open to participants of all ages. We invite you to experience the history, culture, and arts of destinations such as Central America and the Caribbean as well as The Amazon River Basin with subject matter experts, while enjoying field excursions and service opportunities that are unlike any other.

As the fog gradually subsided and the sun peeked over the mountains surrounding Ensenada, the MV Explorer pulled into Mexico at 0700 this morning to pick up the 341 participants embarking on the May 2012 Enrichment Voyage: The Ancient Wonders of Ecuador, The Galápagos, and Beyond.
Voyagers—an eclectic mix of ages and nationalities—took shuttle buses down to the ship from San Diego and arrived a flurry of nerves and excitement before boarding their new home for the next two weeks.
The MV Explorer crew served up a barbecue lunch on the pool deck where new friendships were formed and old acquaintances rekindled. Some opted for orientation tours of the ships, while others settled into their cabins and learned the lay of the land.
During a late afternoon bon voyage reception in the Glazer Lounge with musical accompaniment provided by pianist Dave Williams, voyagers watched from the bow of the ship while the MV Explorer left Ensenada and headed southbound toward Cabo.
After dinner, voyage director Roy Yates and programs coordinator Nathan Blessing welcomed the shipboard community, introduced the workshop leaders and lecturers, and gave all participants an overview of what’s to come. From ornithology to the evolution of wine, Enrichment Voyages will cover it all as the ship makes its way down the west coast of Central America toward Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands over the coming 15 days.
